ABOUT US
"Redefining rural veterinary care — flexible, compassionate, and truly accessible, expert care for our community’s pets, horses, and livestock."
Set in the stunning Kintyre peninsula, Kintyre Veterinary Services was founded in 2023 by experienced local vet Louise Millar, with a clear mission — to make high-quality veterinary care more accessible, personal, and responsive for our rural community.
After more than 15 years in mixed practice across Perthshire and Argyll, Louise saw first-hand the challenges faced by pet owners, horse owners, and farmers in a region where distance, transport, and work commitments often made it difficult to access veterinary care when it was needed most.
As a farmer’s wife, mother of three, and in-house vet for her family’s dairy, beef, and sheep farms, she understood those pressures from both sides of the consultation table.Instead of asking clients to adapt to the limitations of a traditional clinic, she set out to create a practice that would adapt to them.
The result began as a solo mobile service focusing on preventative healthcare — and in less than 18 months, has grown into a full-service practice with state-of-the-art equipment, modern diagnostics, and a custom-built clinic trailer.
Today, we offer everything from routine vaccinations to emergency hospitalisation and surgery, all while continuing to expand our team and services.
We are committed to promoting sustainable veterinary practices and championing animal welfare across the region. Our approach prioritises building long-term relationships, understanding the needs of each animal and owner, and making care as stress-free as possible
— whether it’s at your home, yard, farm, or at our clinic trailer.
From the start, our ethos has been simple: trusted care, in the place you need it most.
